La Lucha Dolores Huerta
Madera Community College and the Fresno Arts Council commissioned several artists to paint different sections of their campus, each focusing on various themes. My mural was dedicated to the honorable Dolores Huerta.
This mural, "La Lucha," captures iconic images of Dolores Huerta, highlighting her dedication to giving voice to the silenced. Her expressions reveal the sadness, passion, and fierceness she brought to her cause. In the top left, grapes grow on faceless laborers' backs, symbolizing the exploitation they faced, reducing them to disposable resources. The grapes lead the viewer to Dolores, illustrating the pain she witnessed. A microphone guides the gaze to the "huelga" sign she holds.
Dolores, you ate, devorates! In order words you are fierce! I’m truly honored to create this mural about you and I'm committed to walking in your footsteps, advocating for my community and others with unwavering determination.
Thank You, Madera Community College and Fresno Arts Council for this Opportunity!
